Second Chance Tuesday - French But Made in Occupied Japan

These two figurines have a great look... with the French "Napoleon" style military garb to the lovely maiden they have a fantastic appeal. They are marked "Made in Occupied Japan."

All items made in Japan during the time it was occupied by allied forces, after World War II, were marked this way or just "occupied Japan." This is why it is unique to find some collectibles made during this small window of time.

Come back and visit every Tuesday when I highlight an antique from my store that I think deserves a "Second Chance" with a pretty sweet discount for the day. (Today I'm taking 20% off!)

The figurines above are available here for purchase.

Sweet - I have a few things from that time. The color palette and "look" is quite the same as your gentleman and lady. May gather them together for a little post on the subject.

Hi Jillian! Thanks for taking the Palace tour. We've got a lot of stories in Vineland. Have you seen the news on the Philly stations about our Cake Boss debacle? Seems the mayor took it upon himself to get the Cake Boss to make our birthday cake instead of going to our local bakeries - and what a war ensued! The bakeries clanned together creating a website of their own calling it the Cake Bomb - the TV news has been in town almost every day with this story. Turns out, all the publicity has overwhelmed our bakeries with tons of attention and traffic. They'll all be baking cakes this weekend and happy endings for everyone! Sorry you can't be here for the fun. My exhibit is up til the end of August. Let me know if you'll be in town at all. We still hope to get away in the fall to Lancaster!
Joy!
